The average life span of a fox in the wild is from two to three years. Being cared for in captivity, this can go from ten to twelve. If the owner decides to breed, adequate shelter and ground to burrow the new born pups must be provided since this is where it will happen. You shouldnt disturb the fox during this time and just wait till the pups come out because the threat from outsiders has prompted some mothers to kill their young. Studies have shown pups taken away from the mother after whelping are friendlier so this should be monitored.
Even exotic species and wild animals have experienced benefits from animal massage therapy under the skilled hands of specialized animal massage therapists. The benefits of massage for animals in a zoological park fall under three categories: training, enrichment and health. Veterinarian staff can use massage to minimize the time that an exotic species spends in the hospital following surgery or illness, a critical element in the success of the animal’s return to the wild or onto exhibit. Specific massage techniques can be used to improve the production and movement of lymphatic fluid and assist in metabolism of anesthesia and related medications.
Thats enough bad news. Heres the good news, YOU CAN HELP PREVENT DENTAL DISEASE IN YOUR PET! Preventative dental care is very effective. Some things are beyond your control, such as genetics, your pets natural chemistry, breed and chewing habits. You can start with your veterinarian. During an basic exam your veterinarian can visualize the teeth and help you determine what will be necessary for your pets dental health. Your veterinarian can show you how to brush your pets teeth. Brushing your pets teeth is fast and fairly easy, plus it is the most effective step toward dental health. Unfortunately only 6% of pet owners will CONSISTENTLY brush their pets teeth. You need to brush your pets teeth at least 3 times a week to be effective. The next best thing is flushing the mouth/teeth with oral rinses to kill bacteria in the mouth. Often these products contain zinc, which helps combat plaque and tarter, and odor eliminators to improve breath.
